It's Wednesday! Guess what day that is. All the sale flyers are published in our daily paper! Grocery deals galore. But, first it's time to shop my favorite place! Have any ideas where that is?
It's my own pantry and freezer! The prices are right and I have plenty of stock.
I believe the true key to saving money is using what you already have. Buy items low and USE THEM!
Yes there are good sales, but if I don't need an item and I have some stock on it - I don't buy more. Here is a crazy concept - it will go on sale again.
So what I first do when I get those grocery sale flyers is take a quick glance at what's on sale. Then I open my pantry and my freezer. What meals can I make from what I already have?
Take that challenge for a few weeks. See if it saves you some money.
Here's the One Meal Challenge - make at least one full meal from items you already have!
Get creative. One fantastic thing about the internet is you can find a ton of recipes. Try googling two or three ingrediants. Like Rice, Ground Beef and Tomatoes. See what recipes come up. You can find so many new options with this technique.
What do I have this week?
I have a can of chilis and some chicken in the freezer. I have an extra can of enchalada sauce I got on sale at albertsons. With a bit of extra veggies and leftover corn tortillas, I'm making chicken tortilla soup one night. Out of pocket cost $0.
See why I'm my own favorite store!
You try it. Save money by shopping YOURSELF first!
