I got this in an email and wanted to pass it on with a very Happy Thanksgiving wish!
TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING, BUT I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP
I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS, I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP.
THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED - THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE
BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT
TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION
THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION.
SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN, FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR
AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE, FULL OF GOODIES GALORE.
I GOBBLED UP TURKEY AND BUTTERED POTATOES,
PICKLES AND CARROTS, BEANS AND TOMATOES.
I FELT MYSELF SWELLING SO PLUMP AND SO ROUND,
'TIL ALL OF A SUDDEN, I ROSE OFF THE GROUND.
I CRASHED THROUGH THE CEILING, FLOATING INTO THE SKY
WITH A MOUTHFUL OF PUDDING AND A HANDFUL OF PIE.
BUT, I MANAGED TO YELL AS I SOARED PAST THE TREES....
HAPPY EATING TO ALL; PASS THE CRANBERRIES, PLEASE.
MAY YOUR STUFFING BE TASTY, MAY YOUR TURKEY BE PLUMP.
MAY YOUR POTATOES 'N GRAVY HAVE NARY A LUMP,
MAY YOUR YAMS BE DELICIOUS, MAY YOUR PIES TAKE THE PRIZE,
MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING DINNER STAY OFF OF YOUR THIGHS.
HAVE A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING

Ok I got the cranberry sauce done last night!
Here is the recipe I used:
3 cups fresh cranberries
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup cranberry juice
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp grated orange zest
I mixed it all together in a bowl first then threw it into the bread maker on the jam setting.
Now I have the rolls cooking and the sweet potato rolls in the bread maker! They smell good. I sure hope they taste good!
How is your Thanksgiving cooking going?

Ok, Thanksgiving is two days away!!! I have the pleasure of hosting some good friends and family. Which I am very excited to do! I love cooking and even more so when I get to do it for people I care about!
To prepare for the big day I'm getting started today.
So today I'm planning to make the bread for the stuffing and the cranberry sauce. I might chop up the onioins as well so they are ready to go for the stuffing and green chili!
By the way, here is my Thanksgiving Menu:
Two Turkeys - 1 is being baked, and a smaller one is being fried (a first for me but out friend who is experienced is doing it!)
Veggies: Green Bean Caserole (a must), Another veggie dish (not sure my sister is making it) possibly a salad
Sides: Green chili (for my hubby), Cranberry sauce, stuffing, plain mashed potatoes, garlic cheesy mashed potatoes
Bread: homemade dinner rolls and sweet potato rolls (thanks to the new breadmaker!)
Dessert: 7 layer bars, pumpkin pie, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, Dreyers Peppermint and Vanilla icecream, and possibly sweet potatoe pie (well see if I have the energy for it)
Appetizers: crackers and cheese and little party weiners (my sister's claim to fame dish)
I'll keep you posted!

The folks at President Cheese were kind enough to send me one of their brie logs to check out! Honestly, I don't always think of picking up Brie when I put out a cheese plate. Brie in near the produce section in my store, while the harder cheeses like chedder are near the back with the milk.
I was happy to try out the brie though and am glad I did! Very smooth and creamy, I simply paired the brie with crackers and granny smith apples.
Here are some more recipes for you to consider if you wanted to spice up your appitizers:
Brie, Chutney and Red Currant
· Place President® Brie slice on a cracker
· Top with ½ teaspoon of chutney
· Add 2-3 red currants
Brie, Cherry Tomatoes, Pepper and chives
· Place President® Brie slice on a cracker
· Place ½ cherry tomato on cheese
· Top with a thin slice of yellow pepper and chopped chives
Brie, Raspberry Preserve and Kumquats
· Place President® Brie slice on a crac ker
· Top it with ½ teaspoon of raspberry preserves
· Add a small wedge of kumquat
Brie, Kiwi and Red Currants
Brie, Apple, Walnuts, Cinnamon and Honey
· Place President® Brie slice and a thin wedge of apple on cracker
· Top with walnut half
· Sprinkle with cinnamon & drizzle with honey
Brie, Fig and Orange
· Place President® Brie slice on a cracker
· Top with a small wedge of fresh fig
· Add a dash of orange marmalade
You should be able to find the President Cheese brand in your local supermarket. If not, you can find the stores they are found in on the site.

I am so excited. I've been looking for a bread maker for a while now. I make our bisquits and other breads, but didn't always have the time to make loaf bread.
I got on Craigslist and did my periodic checking around and there was a listing for a brand new in the box Cuisinart breadmaker for $65. I did some research and found that it retails for $130!
I called her up and sure enough, when I picked it up - it was new in the box, never taken out!
I'm so excited. So far, I made a cinnamon swirl loaf (which we made french toast with for Sunday Morning breakfast!). I also made two other plain loaves that we used to make sandwhiches.
I'm planning on making a loaf today and using it for stuffing for Thanksgiving. And I'm making homemade cranberry sauce in it!
I'll keep you updated!
