Recently, I've come across The Coupon Master. I was a little hesitant at first - because I thought, why would I want to pay for coupons. But as I thought about it, the logic made sense.
Let's say, there is a coupon in the sunday paper that I know I will use. For example, the Breyers coupon was in the 10/26 red plum insert! Now, 1. I hardly ever see breyers coupons! I was super excited! and 2. if you knew how much icecream my husband eats (breyers twix is his fav!) you would be excited for me as well!
Now, because I'm going to use these. (Wait until Kroger has them on sale for $2.77 - use $0.50 coupon which doubles to $1.00, that's breyers icecream for $1.77, down from the normal $6+!) I obviously wanted more of them. If I buy extra papers at $1.50 each. Let's say I buy 3 - that's $3 of savings at a cost of $4.50. Now I will use other coupons in the paper but still, it's money spent!
When I checked out the The Coupon Master they had a $1.00 off 2 breyers products for $0.10 handling fee. If I bought 10 of these coupons - it would cost me $1.00. If I bought 10 papers, it would cost me $13.50. Coupon master savings would be $9.00 - handling fee. Paper coupons would cost me $3.50 if I didn't use any other coupon.
What is also pretty cool is you can search for coupons by date they came out or by product name. The coupons ship withing 24 hours. This way, you can buy multiple coupons for the store sales and really stockpile!
Below are some good stockpiling coupons:
Muir Glen Product $1.00/1
Sure Anti-perspirant & Deodorant $1.00/1
Cascadian Farm Product $1.00/1
I'm excited about this find! I'll be able to send you to the coupons I mention!
Here's to saving money!

If you live by a king soopers, you may have seen that ground meat is 25% off (all prices are until tomorrow, tuesday Oct. 28th). Kuner's beans are also 2 for $1 (50 cents each) along with canned tomatoes.
Now when I see a sale like this, my mind goes to the best recipe for these items - chili!
Keep this principle in mind as other store sales come up. See what you can combine out of items on sale to create your weekly menu!
Here is my favorite turkey chili recipe:
Turkey
Bean ChiliTotal out of pocket cost to me for this meal is right around $5.25 to feed 4 of us. And I'll have some leftover for lunch!
This is super yummy and healthy for you as well. Another low cost healthy meal to try out!

If you haven't got your treats for those little goblins that will be showing up at your door in less then a week (ok this is me!). Here are some places you can get some sweets for cheap:
Manufacturs Coupons:
Date in paper | Item | Amount | Expires |
9/28 Red Plum | Mars Candy | $1.00 off any 2 bags | 10/31/08 |
10/12 | Mars candy (m&ms) | $1.00 off any 2 bags | 10/31/08 |
Date in paper | Dove | $1.00 off any dove product | 11/28/08 |
9/28 | Hersheys | $1.00 off any 3 bags | 10/31/08 |
Where and how to use them:
Safeway: 2 Dove bags for $5.00. Buy 1, use coupon $1.50 each. (keep this for you :) )
King Soopers: Promo - Purchase $15 worth of Hershey products in a single transaction and get $5 coupon towards next shopping visit. Use coupon and save another $1.00.
Albertsons has assorted fun and snack bags of candy 2 for $5. Hersys $6.99. Also has M&M candy bags at $6.99.
Walgreens (this is where I'm getting my candy!):
M&M's are 2 for $5 - use coupon and it's 2 for $4, also use the October Easy Saver coupon (Last Day to USE!) and get another $1 off for a final price of $2 for $3. When you buy 4 bags you get the $4 easy saver rebate.
So if you bough 4 bags (2 for $5 = $10), use $1 easy saver coupon, both the $1 coupons in the 10/12 and 9/28 paper, and get the $4 rebate. Final Price is $3.00 for 4 bags of candy.
Dysfunctional Mom let me know that Publix has big bags of good candy (Snickers, 3 Musketeers, M&M's, etc) Buy One Get One Free right now!

I got some great deals at wal mart last night and decided to use them in my lunches! Here's the break down of my healthy 72 cent lunch:
Item | Price - Coupon | Final Price | Portion Price |
Starkist Tuna | $1.48 - $1.00 coupon (red plum 10/2) | $0.48 | divided into 2, ate half at $0.24 |
Green Giant Brocolli Steamers | $1.27 - $1.00 coupon (9/7) | $0.27 | $0.14 (ate a cup) |
Pita pockets | $2.00 for 6 | cut one in half | $0.17 |
Hershey's dark chocolate bar (we all need some dessert!) | $1.50 - $1.00 coupon (9/28 SS) | $0.50 | $0.17 (ate a third - yum!) |
So the total cost of all these products were $3.25.
The portion cost for my lunch was $0.72! And I have enough for a second lunch!
You may be saying, "but she had a coupon and bought these things on sale!" That's my point! With planning you can make amazing healthy and very inexpensive meals!
My lunch was really yummy and I'm looking forward to tomorrows as well! This is easy to take to work - just heat up your brocolli and you are good to go!
So for under a $1 (less than a cheeseburger from drive thru!) I got a whole amazing lunch.
What are your low cost healthy lunch ideas?
