This week, King Soopers had Asparagus on sale for $1.99 a pound. Usually it's around $4 or above. So I bought 3 lbs to freeze.
It's usueal to buy meats on sale and freeze for a later date, but you can do that with some veggies as well so you can look in that goodness before they are out of season.
To freeze both greenbeans and asparagus, blanch them first then freeze.
Step 1 - Boil Veggies for 2 minutes
Step 2 - Place in bowl of water with ice cubes in.
Step 3 - Pat dry with towl
Now the greenbeans, I just put into a freezer bag and freeze in family size portions. The asparagus, I place them a part on a paper plate and put them in the freezer until hard. Then they all go into freezer bags for later use!
