The other day as I walked through the cleaning aisle at the grocery store, I picked up a pinesol product for all purpose cleaner. I turned it around to read the sales pitch and instead got to read a full side Warning Label and First Aid instructions. After decided I didn't want to wear a face shield, gloves and full body armor to use it, I put it back and happily went home to mix up my own cleaners.
I purchased a few spray bottles from the Dollar Store and a couple other containers with tops to store my mixes in.
Here are a few of my favorite cleaner recipies:
All Purpose Cleaner: Mix two tablespoons mild dishwashing soap with two cups of water in a spray bottle. Shake it up and use on countertops or whereever. This is my most used one!
Toilet Bowl Cleaner: Sprinkly about a tablespoon of Baking Soda into your toilet bowl and pour in about a half to a cup of vinegar. Let it fizz. Scrub with your toilet bowl brush and flush on down.
You can also just pour a cup of vinegar in and site several hours or overnight. Scub and flush.
Germ Killer Spray: Put vinegar into a spray bottle. Spray anywhere and wipe down.
Scummy Showerhead: Place 1/2 cup baking soda and a cup distilled white vinegar into a shower head and secure it around the top of the shbower head with a rubber band. Let sitt for an hour. Remove and run water.
Air Freshner: Place 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp vinegar and 1 cup water into a spray bottle. Mix it up and spray away. Works really great in the bathroom.
If you are worried about the smell of vinegar, it doesn't last long. Some mornings I walk down stairs and can smell a faint lingering of the useful stuff. Which means, my kids cleaned something. But that's just fine with me. Because I know that vinegar, baking soda and water won't hurt them!
The only warning label on my cleaning products is, Use this again!
